Induction & Training

Induction and training is for the most part, something which the last driver to leave the yard gets landed with. And while its fair to say the larger organisations are now putting steps in place to create a recruiting process built from the ground up to recruit and train new HGV drivers, for the majority of the industry, they’re still doing things the way they always have done?

Day 1. Training with company Driver X
The happy couple meet up at your yard for a 6am start. They set off with the experienced driver driving and trainee along as a passenger. By lunchtime they’re getting on well and the conversation is flowing. By the time 5pm comes around they’re getting on like a house on fire and by this time the experienced driver has relinquished all his opinions about the office staff, the customers, the other drivers, and also which filling station will take a bung for a share of the spoils?

Even the most conscientious drivers have issues. For that driver to share those issues with a new start? It undermines everything you are trying to achieve by bringing new blood into the business.

If you don’t have the budget for a dedicated HR department, let 6AM carry the weight for you? We will work for you. Providing drivers who are not tainted by any in company politics.
